Russian Ministry Of Defense: U.S. Is Preparing To Strike Damascus

According to website Syria News, the Russian MoD recently stated that it has information "the US-led coalition acting to enforce ISIS in Syria" is preparing an attack against the Bashar al-Assad regime. At this time, NMWD cannot confirm whether or not these claims are true, but it seems highly unlikely the United States would directly support and ally with a ruthless terrorist organization, such as the Islamic State.

Their article continues:

"Among the targets are expected to be Syrian Arab Army positions, especially the spearhead of the forces advancing in Eastern Ghouta, Syrian Armed Forces, and Syrian public facilities. This would not exclude attacking Syrian media buildings like the Syrian State TV and also the presidential palace."

Again, we cannot confirm if this is true or not; we are only reporting on what this news outlet has written.

The site appears to be highly critical of the U.S. and its allies. It states:

"There’s no legal base for the US or any of its allies or stooges to carry out any act of any feature inside the sovereign state Syria."

It also mentions how the United States government "wants to take advantage" of the upcoming elections in Russia (similar to allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election).

They continually mention how the U.S. opposes both Russia and Syria "to protect their alternative armies in ISIS, Nusra Front, FSA, SDF and other terrorist organizations." Syria News does not provide any concrete sources or evidence to back up their statements.

Although proxy wars are well documented and not new, claims such as the ones Syria News is making must be corroborated by dependable and accurate sources to be taken seriously.

If they are correct, and there is a chance of a direct conflict between the United States military and Russian forces, it would most likely end in disaster as both countries have maintained super power status due to their nuclear arsenals. World War III could become a reality if this were to happen, but obviously all parties involved are aware of the risks (to not only their countries, but human civilization in general).
