Oscars 2018: Dead Silence As Gary Oldman Thanks America During 'Darkest Hour' Acceptance Spe
Actor Gary Oldman received an Oscar for his leading role in the movie Darkest Hour.
In the beginning of his speech, he gave special thanks to America:
“I’ve lived in America for the longest time, and I am deeply grateful to her for the loves and the friendships I have made and the many wonderful gifts it has given me. My home. My livelihood. My family and now Oscar.”
The audience didn't clap... or even boo. There was just deafening silence, and that's sad considering nearly all of the attendees have built highly successful careers due to the freedom we have in this country.
