On Tuesday, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said his DOJ will open an official probe to investigate alleged abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) during the time Barack Obama was president.

When asked by reporters about the possibility of an investigation at the court that oversees FISA warrants, Sessions said, "Yes, it will be investigated," and it is the "appropriate thing to do."

During an interview on Fox News last Sunday, Sessions commented on the issue:

"Let me tell you, every FISA warrant based on facts submitted to that court has to be accurate.

"That will be investigated and looked at, and we are not going to participate at the Department of Justice in providing anything less than the proper disclosure to the court before they issue a FISA warrant."
