Communist West Point Graduate Was Allegedly Inspired By Disgraced Former Army Private Chelsea Mannin
Chelsea Manning, a former Army Private who was imprisoned for leaking classified information and then freed at the end of President Barack Obama's term, is said to have inspired recent U.S. Military Academy West Point graduate Spenser Rapone to infiltrate the armed forces.
Rapone is the subject of an Army investigation after his rampant pro-communist social media posts came to light, including a tweet that called for political violence and referring to Secretary of Defense James Mattis as an "evil, vile f***."
On Reddit, Rapone explained his motivation and goals as a newly commissioned second lieutenant in the 2nd Combat Brigade Team, 10th Mountain Division, citing Manning's decision to leak national security documents to WikiLeaks. Coincidentally (or not), Manning also served in the 10th Mountain Division.
He wrote, "I'm currently an infantry officer at Ft. Drum, NY assigned to the same brigade that she was while enlisted. Every single day I think of the contradictions of being a communist while in this organization, and her courage and tenacity gives me strength to continue the long march through the institutions.”
Another Reddit user responded to his comment, warning him not to talk about his intentions so publicly.
"Dude you have a 5 year account, that's got to be enough to get doxxed. Please be careful."
He responded by saying the following:
Rapone also made some questionable Twitter comments along with showing pictures of him supporting communism and Che Guevara, an Argentine Marxist revolutionary and guerilla leader.
Additional pictures have also been discovered online by anonymous image board users:
Richard L. Rapone, Spenser's father, responded on Facebook and expressed his disappointment.
He said, "In regards to my son Spenser Rapone, I disavow his political views and overall politics. I am very disappointed in the direction he has chosen and as his father it greatly saddens me."
