New Mother 'Decapitated' In Freak Hospital Elevator Accident

A new mother in Spain has died after a suspected mechanical fault in an elevator at the Currantes Hospital de Valme, Seville.
Shortly after giving birth, and while holding her child, the woman was "fully pushed into the cabin" of the elevator while its doors closed and her head became trapped.
The incident took place at approximately 2:30pm local time on Sunday.

"Very serious news at the last minute!
"A woman is severed by an elevator of Valme Hospital.
"A woman has died today when she was severed by an elevator at the Valme hospital in Seville when she was transferred on a stretcher from one plant to another.
"According to police sources, the accident happened shortly after 2.30 pm, when the woman was put into the elevator and the door lock control device has apparently failed.
"The elevator has started upwards without the stretcher having fully entered.
"To the place of the event, which has occurred between the second floor and the third floor of the hospital, have been displaced firefighters, National Police and Local Seville, while the doctors on call of the hospital have immediately returned to the point of Sinister, without having been able to save the woman's life.
"A team of the Scientific and Forensic Police has also moved to the scene to begin the process of lifting the corpse."
According to ABC Sevilla, it took emergency responders two hours to free the woman's body.
For now, the area of the hospital where this "malfunction" occurred has been closed off while a forensic team conducts an examination.
The mother's newborn child was not harmed.
