The Confusing And Mysterious Unsolved Murder Of Seth Rich

Earlier today, Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom released a brief statement on his website revealing his prior affiliation with slain DNC staffer, Seth Rich.

While not going into great detail, he mentioned that his "full statement" will be provided to law enforcement.

The below excerpt was taken from Kim.com:

"I KNOW THAT SETH RICH WAS INVOLVED IN THE DNC LEAK.

"I know this because in late 2014 a person contacted me about helping me to start a branch of the Internet Party in the United States. He called himself Panda. I now know that Panda was Seth Rich.

"Panda advised me that he was working on voter analytics tools and other technologies that the Internet Party may find helpful.

"I communicated with Panda on a number of topics including corruption and the influence of corporate money in politics.

"He wanted to change that from the inside.

"I was referring to what I knew when I did an interview with Bloomberg in New Zealand in May 2015. In that interview I hinted that Julian Assange and Wikileaks would release information about Hillary Clinton in the upcoming election.

"The Rich family has reached out to me to ask that I be sensitive to their loss in my public comments. That request is entirely reasonable.

"I have consulted with my lawyers. I accept that my full statement should be provided to the authorities and I am prepared to do that so that there can be a full investigation. My lawyers will speak with the authorities regarding the proper process.

"If my evidence is required to be given in the United States I would be prepared to do so if appropriate arrangements are made. I would need a guarantee from Special Counsel Mueller, on behalf of the United States, of safe passage from New Zealand to the United States and back. In the coming days we will be communicating with the appropriate authorities to make the necessary arrangements. In the meantime, I will make no further comment.

"STATEMENT FROM KIM DOTCOM"

Since the release, Kim has made numerous tweets regarding his past legal troubles, which have been used to discredit him, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Seth Rich:

The reactions on Twitter to Kim's long awaited statement were mixed, but mostly negative. Caution - foul language:

Meanwhile, a report previously published by Fox News has since been deleted.

The article was titled "Family of slain DNC staffer Seth Rich blasts detective over report of WikiLeaks link" and can be found via the Internet Archive Wayback Machine (last capture on 5/23).

According to the article, the family of Seth Rich was upset with retired D.C. detective Rod Wheeler for circulating rumors about Rich's connection with the 2016 DNC hacks. The bombshell WikiLeaks data dump, which included thousands of private emails between Hillary Clinton and her staff dating back to when she was Secretary of State, is said to have contributed to her loss during the presidential election.

Wheeler earlier stated, "My investigation up to this point shows there was some degree of email exchange between Seth Rich and WikiLeaks.”

Fox 5 DC later discovered the retired detective has since backtracked on his original claims.

From their heavily edited article (last dated 5/17/17):

"In an interview Monday, Wheeler told FOX 5 DC he had sources at the FBI confirming there was evidence of communication between Seth Rich and WikiLeaks. This is the verbatim of that exchange:

"FOX 5 DC: 'You have sources at the FBI saying that there is information...'

"WHEELER: 'For sure...'

"FOX 5 DC: '...that could link Seth Rich to WikiLeaks?'

"WHEELER: 'Absolutely. Yeah. That's confirmed.'

"In the past 48 hours, Rod Wheeler has told other media outlets he did not get his information from FBI sources, contradicting what he told us on Monday.

"Since Rod Wheeler backtracked Tuesday, FOX 5 DC attempted incessantly to communicate with him, but he didn't return calls or emails.

"On Wednesday, just before our newscast, Wheeler responded to our requests via a telephone conversation, where he now backtracks his position and Wheeler characterizes his on-the-record and on-camera statements as 'miscommunication.'

"When asked if Wheeler is still workin for Seth Rich's family, Wheeler told FOX 5 DC the contract still stands -- ties have not been severed."

Popular Fox News talk show host Sean Hannity went all in on the Seth Rich murder case. He recently discussed the issue on both his TV and radio programs:

Hannity also unleashed on Twitter with a number of tweets that seemed a bit out of character. He was met with intense scrutiny and criticism from those on the left. Caution - foul language:

While the recent developments have been both strange and interesting, the question still remains: Who killed Seth Rich and why?
