India Has Deployed "Anti-Poo" Drones To Discourage Its Citizens From Relieving Themselves

[Yamunanagar, North India] Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Indian officials have been forced to shame locals into using bathrooms to relieve themselves, instead of streets and fields, by using fleets of drones to patrol remote villages.

Residents mostly prefer the outdoors, which has been a custom for centuries. Government officials want to "get with the times" and encourage their people to use private toilets instead.

A block of "troubled" villages have been marked and drones are now patrolling their fields and streets for a few hours each morning (from 5am to 9am, local time).

If anyone is caught defecating out in the open, they are "dealt with sternly," according to The Times of India.

A special group was formed months ago and their sole task is to analyze the daily drone footage and identify individuals who are violating the law.

S S Phoolia, a local deputy commissioner, stated, "This solution was suggested when we found that people from the households having toilets go to answer the nature's call in open. We have to break this habit."
